Hi Alita, Eleanor, Amy, and I went to SCERTS model training. It was geared toward autism but could be applied to other diagnosis. It is kind of like the Batelle in that it is extensive and could be broken up into diciplines. SCERTS is social communication emotional regulation transitional supports. We are going to be evaluating children using video and the scerts and then teaching others about it in the future. We wanted to do a pilot study first to get our ducks in a row before we present it in the future. The autism planning workgroup at pearl nelson center has been discussing how we would implement it. It is definitely a work in progress. I'll tell you more as we go. This might not be the place for it because it is an involved assessment.

Topics might be: diagnostic specific or certain subjects eg autism and behavior -helping parents with psychosocial issues - reimbursment, providing services that are entitled to children, and surviving professionally. Evidensed based practice. etc.
Thanks! Lisa

Hi Lisa welcome to the site! I am glad you like it! I am really hoping this will take off. I am sure we will have kinks to work out here and there, but I am hoping it will be beneficial. I would like to get more info on the scerts model. I think working across all disciplines is the way to go so I look forward to hearing some of your ideas. I am not sure what you are taking about with the South Dakota thing. We just put examples of different geographical areas so people would sign up under the state where they reside/work. Let me know if you have any other questions. Todd would also love for some ideas from OTs of good forum topics to put on this website. Keep the discussions going, I think it will be great fun. Thanks again for checking us out.

Hi, This is not really a general topic for everyone. This may be more for those that work at Pearl Nelson Center. However, the information discussed may apply to others that work in early intervention.
With that said...I think sharing ideas about establishing a coordinated curriculum across disciplines in early intervention would be a great topic. For example, I would like to see us use the scerts assessment and integrate PECS in the curriculum across all disciplines. Video tapes may help us to discuss the use of the scerts etc. However, I'm wondering if this site is secure enough to share that information. Also, maybe we would have to get parental release forms to videotape.
Alita, I hope this is what you were thinking about for South Dakota.
Let me know if I am way off base.
Thanks! Lisa
